General Introduction
AI in Higher Education: A Double-Edged Sword discusses the growing role of Artificial Intelligence in transforming teaching, learning, and academic administration. Artificial Intelligence refers to systems capable of performing tasks that normally require human intelligence, such as learning, reasoning, problem-solving, and language understanding. In higher education, AI is increasingly used to personalize learning experiences,
automate administrative processes, analyze student data, and provide virtual assistance. While AI offers significant opportunities to enhance efficiency, accessibility, and learning outcomes, it also raises critical challenges related to ethics, equity, privacy, and over-reliance on technology. This session invites participants to critically examine both the benefits and risks of AI adoption in higher education contexts.

This Course is for
1. University students and postgraduate learners interested in understanding how artificial intelligence is transforming teaching, learning, assessment, and academic research in higher education, as well as the opportunities and risks it presents.
2. Early-career educators, teaching assistants, and academic administrators seeking practical insights into integrating AI tools into curriculum design, instructional delivery, student support, and academic management while maintaining academic integrity and educational quality.
3. Lecturers, researchers, and scholars focusing on education, educational technology, computer science, ethics, social sciences, and interdisciplinary studies who wish to critically examine the pedagogical, ethical, and governance implications of AI in higher education.
4. Globally minded participants and education practitioners eager to explore cross-regional perspectives on AI adoption in universities, including policy responses, institutional strategies, ethical challenges, and the balance between innovation, equity, and responsibility in an AI-driven academic landscape.
