General Introduction
The International Experts Sharing Meeting brings together distinguished scholars, practitioners, and professionals from ASEAN and beyond to exchange perspectives on emerging trends and best practices in digital storytelling and cross-cultural communication. This edition focuses on “Digital Storytelling as a Bridge Across Cultures.” In an increasingly interconnected and media-driven world, digital narratives play a vital role in shaping cultural understanding, preserving identities, and fostering dialogue across borders. As technologies transform how stories are created and shared, communicators, educators, and creatives face new opportunities and responsibilities to craft inclusive, ethical, and culturally sensitive narratives that resonate with diverse audiences.
The session invites participants to explore how digital platforms, multimedia tools, and storytelling strategies can enhance cross-cultural engagement and mutual understanding. Topics include the use of digital media to represent cultural heritage, amplify marginalized voices, and facilitate intercultural dialogue in global contexts. Through expert presentations, case studies, and interactive discussions, the meeting promotes interdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge exchange. It aims to inspire participants to reflect on diverse storytelling practices, share real-world experiences, and strengthen collective efforts to use digital storytelling as a powerful medium for cultural connection, empathy, and global communication.
